As a Modern Masters Platinum Training Center, Italian Plasters Design Studio is part of an elite group of Decorative Finishing Schools dedicated to teaching beginners, intermediate, and professionals the art of Decorative Painting & Texturing. World renowned instructor, Kelly S. King of the Kelly S. King Academy, a division of Modern Masters inc., has created the exclusive Platinum curricula taught by our Platinum Training Center. The curricula include the most unique and sought after finishes in the Faux Finishing and Decorative Painting Industry. All Platinum Series classes and curriculum taught at the IPDS Training Center earn our students Platinum Preferred Applicator Status and they are then featured on the Modern Masters resource listing for home owners, designers, and Architects.

Faux finishing is the art of preparation and finishing a surface to give it texture, polish and an enhanced appearance. Italian plastering is the external application of texture from distinct graduated colors to rough finishes to create spectacular effects.

The word “faux” actually means false, and refers to the technique of making one material look like another. For example, a fiberglass column made to look like marble, or a plain sheet rock wall made to look like stucco.
