About Us

Mandy Fiedler owner of Italian Plasters Design Studio has been creating custom faux finishes and Italian Plasters for more than six years. Mandy grew up in rural Minnesota. As a young girl, her love for art and painting blossomed. Mandy attended Northland Technical College East Grand Forks and received her diploma in Carpentry. After graduation she and a friend began a trim carpentry business in Kansas City, Missouri.

Faux FinishesWhile working in the high-end residential areas, she developed a passion to pursue her artistic desire to learn the art of faux. After her first class in Atlanta, she had a full-time business in decorative painting waiting for her back in Minnesota. Mandy is in constant motion keeping in time with the changing trends. She trains all around the United States, Canada, and she plans on training in Verona Italy with master applicators!

Mandy’s husband Matthew Fiedler has also been trained in the art of Italian plasters and faux finishes. They work side by side when a project calls for more than one artist. If a project calls for several artisans they have the ability to bring in several trained finishers from around the country.

Italian Plasters Design Studio does residential and commercial business around northern Minnesota and the Twin Cities. They have also done business outside of the state. In the summer of 2005, IPDS applied finishes in the new Rydell Auto Mall located in Grand Forks North Dakota. There most recent project outside of Minnesota was a condo in Panama Beach Florida.

Faux FinishesThe Italian Plasters Design Studio received the honor of being selected to apply their Stucco Valentino finish in two nationally recognized projects.

The first being the Inspirations & Innovations Home Tour located in Omaha Nebraska. Inspirations & Innovations is an interactive, educational experience on the latest design styles and trends for today’s lifestyles. Inspirations & Innovations will change the way you look at the future of building, designing, and living.

The second project was The Painted Mansion by the Kelly S. King Academy in Omaha Nebraska. The Painted Mansion will be painted literally from floor to ceiling with today’s finest finishes and products. The Painted Mansion will be a showcase and testament to the durability and imaginative possibilities of the faux and decorative finish industry. This project will be featured worldwide through magazines and television.

Faux finishes and Italian plasters are evolving as each day passes. Through trial and error some of the most beautiful finishes are created. If there is a finish that you do not see in the IPDS library of finishes they can create that finish for you. Bring IPDS a photo of a finish or a magazine clipping or anything that inspires you, they would love the challenge of creating a finish to match your inspirations.
